Nashville Surprises

Wow - sometimes life can still surprise you, even after all these years.
Most of you know (that follow my band Sweet Crystal) that we recently travelled to the Music City - Nashville, TN - for a 4 day music conference and showcase opportunity.
It was called the CIA Summit (Christian Independent Alliance) and represents the biggest organization of independent Christian musicians in the US (if not the world).
Pictures of the event can be seen on our MySpace site (http:/www.myspace.com/sweetcrystalrocks) but we really did have a great show on Thursday and even tho' drummer Steve had to fly home early on Thursday, Bill and I stayed for the remaining days of educational music biz seminars, great concerts and tremendous fellowship.
Sounds nice, right?
Well that's not the surprise I started this blog off with...
the big surprise to us was the fact the band was awarded a 2009 Momentum Award for our lifetime perseverance in pursuing our music and ministry.
This award is the independent version of the "regular" industry's Dove or Grammy and was totally unexpected.
We were humbled and thrilled by the recognition and the 4 minute retrospective video of our journey was incredibly well received (or were they just being nice to us vintage rockers...) and we left there a much more confident band than when we arrived.
I know this is a small thing in the overall scheme of the universe, but it's our small thing and to us, it was huge.
Stay blessed - you are all a blessing to me.
